Recently, I had the pleasure of visiting the new Carmel Valley Creamery, located in a historic building that many locals fondly remember as Rosie's Cracker Barrel. Over the years, this beloved spot has seen many iterations, but the latest transformation is perhaps the most exciting yet.

The space has been refreshingly renovated and is now home to a delightful micro creamery making artisanal cheeses right in the heart of Carmel Valley.
The moment you step inside, you’re greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere. One of the highlights of the Creamery is the picture window that allows visitors to watch the cheese makers at work. It’s fascinating to see the dedication and craftsmanship that goes into each batch of cheese. Additionally, there are small porthole windows where you can catch a glimpse of the aging cheese, adding to the sense of connection to the cheese-making process.

But the Carmel Valley Creamery is more than just a place to buy cheese. They have a charming coffee bar where you can enjoy a freshly brewed cup of coffee. They also offer all the accouterments one might need for enjoying their cheese, including jams and honey, crackers, fresh-baked Ad Astra bread, a selection of meats, and tinned fish. For those with a sweet tooth or younger visitors, they even have gelato popsicles, perfect for the less discerning palates in your life.

Outside, the Creamery boasts a spacious patio where you can sit and savor your treats. It’s a lovely spot to relax, enjoy the fresh air, and indulge in some of the best artisanal cheese the region has to offer.
Highly recommend a visit to the new Carmel Valley Creamery. Currently, they are open weekends only, Saturday and Sunday from 7:30 am - 2:30 pm but expect that to change as they become more established.
Whether you’re a local or just passing through, make sure to stop by and experience this wonderful addition to Carmel Valley.
